The many Roman archaeological sites, including the Roman army museum, Housesteads and Vindolanda where they are still uncovering fascinating treasures, are only a few miles away. The Pennine Way and Hadrian’s Wall is a short distance away. The local Golf course is in Greenhead approx 5 mins drive away and other courses nearby at Brampton and Hexham. Horse riding is available. A waterfall is within walking distance. This is an excellent spot for both enthusiastic cyclist and walkers and also perfect for those of us less inclined. The Spa is open to the public for food and drink; the village has a staggering three other pubs that offer food and a friendly pint or two.

Alnwick Castle & Gardens
The Alnwick garden was created by the Duchess of Northumberland and covers over 40 acres. It was opened in October 2002 by its patron HRH The Prince of Wales. The most spectacular feature is the Grand Cascade which is the largest water feature of its kind in the UK. The garden also includes one of the worlds largest wooden treehouses.
Many other attractions around and about, I haven’t even touched on Cumbria, but a folder is available at the property with many many more exciting places to visit.
